Stress Relieving Scents

If you google what scents help you relieve stress, you will find lavender, rosemary, sage, lemon, bergamot, vetiver and orange on the top of the list. It is no wonder you can find many home oils, bath salts, lotions, home sprays, and diffusers with these soothing notes. Especially after last year, we all can use a little calm right now. In fact, lavender is perhaps the most widely researched fragrance. There have been numerous studies that confirm the benefits of this amazing little purple flower. Lavender provides the best calming, soothing, and sedative effects. Some people even drink lavender tea. Fragrances are very personal and what fragrance I am drawn to and makes me feel relaxed could be totally different to you.

Not many of us have time to stop to take a yoga or meditation class. No time for meditation, imagine a candle emitting a light and calming fragrance after a long day. I prefer to relax with my favorite candle burning next to me while relaxing in a warm bath and glass of wine in hand. Don't forget to lock the door to keep the children away - you deserve to escape if only for a minute or two. It is A little zen in jar. You can also use an electric plugin or reed diffuser to continuously emit your favorite calming scent. There are so many fragrant notes to help relieve the stresses of the day!  You should try each one to see which fragrance works best to calm your nerves.

01. Mandarin

Its uplifting citrus scent can help soothe anxiety and depression1 in both children and adults. Mandarin oranges have even more beta-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin than common oranges, making them excellent additions to your diet. The body turns beta-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin into vitamin A, which is essential for a healthy immune system, good vision, and normal growth and development. Chew on that for sure! Check out Mandarin Musk from Claire Burke.

02. Calming Lavender

Well we do not eat lavender but some folks like Lavender tea. Also known as “Universal Oil”, the Lavender plant has multiple benefits: soothes nerves, eases pains and fights palpitation. Claire Burke offers two fragrances with lavender: the Original and Lavender Balsam. Both are unique and smell totally different from the other.

03. Grapefruit

As an air freshener, Grapefruit adds a zesty energy to the home and is reputed to improve mood and boost mental energy. When you digest grapefruit you get the benefits of rich antioxidants and fiber. Also we have all heard of the Grapefruit Diet. Extremely low in calories.  Check out Claire Burke's Sea Salt & Grapefruit.

04. Citrus

Lemons have an astringent scent, which tends to clear the air. Lemon Citrus is widely associated with the feeling of cleanliness and freshness. If you drink lemon water, it is full of vitamin C.  It also reduces cancer and may reduce kidney stones. I love Sparkling Citron from Claire Burke.

03. Pomegranate

It appeals to the senses and will help you achieve a relaxed state. There are quite a few important benefits of pomegranate seed oil, such as its ability to prevent premature aging, soothe skin inflammation, protect the heart, boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, eliminate inflammation, strengthen the hair, stop dandruff and stimulate circulation, among others. We should all be drinking raw pomegranate juice everyday!!! Mandarin Musk from Claire Burke also has this amazing fruit. It smells wonderful.
